The Moon, She Said

The moon, she
woke me early—
her light calling
me outside.  Aurora,
come here.

I dressed in clouds
and a bit of color
while trying to hold
on to the last whiff
of my dream
(peppermints
in a London mailbox)

the leaves
on the trees shook
like glitter in the wind
and she said

Stand still, quiet your mind.
Look around you,
look into the sky, look into
yourself.

She moved
closer and I
noticed Jupiter
in her wake

for the first time.
The illumination
took my breath
and made me smile.
